Benefits of Manual Osteopathic Therapy:
MOT is safe for most clients throughout all age groups. After an assessment the therapist will determine which treatment methods are specifically beneficial for your body and its presented state.

Some conditions MOT may treat are:

  • Preventative maintenance

  • Postural dysfunctions

  • Fascial dysfunctions

  • Back and neck pain

  • Joint pain/ pathologies

  • Foot pain

  • Headaches/ migraines

  • TMJD

  • Post surgery healing

  • MVA/Sport injuries

  • Neurological disorders

  • Nerve compressions

  • Digestive concerns

  • Organ dysfunctions

  • Pelvic pain

  • Respiratory problems

  • Circulatory problems

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Stress / anxiety

  • General pain

Philosophy:

Manual Osteopathic Therapy is naturally a holistic medicine which uses the knowledge of the body's anatomy and physiology to assess and treat disorder and dysfunction. The treatment influences restoration to the body by correcting movement of bones, joints, muscles and clearing obstructed pathways to promote optimal fluid flow, nerves and organ function.

MOT was founded in 1874 by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still and later built on by numerous notable individuals who studied the body and tested further practices. The founding principles of MOT are structured around:

  1. Your body works as a single unit

  2. Structure affects function

  3. Your body has the capability to self-govern and self-regulate

  4. Your body has the capacity to regenerate and renew in order to protect and preserve its function

Treatment Process:

During an MOT treatment the therapist will assess each client through a holistic lens to determine the root cause of their problem area. The assessment methods utilized will test bones/joints, soft tissue (fascia, ligaments, muscles), fluids (lymph, blood, cerebrospinal), nerves, organs and psyche to determine how your body is holistically functioning. After a thorough assessment, the therapist is then able to devise which treatments are best suited for the body's presented state.

The treatment will incorporate a variety of gentle and non-invasive techniques which are used to assist the body into healing. In application the MOT uses a hands-on method to work with skull bones, skeletal bones/joints, fascia/ ligaments/ muscles, nerves, fluid pathways and organs.

All treatments are performed externally on the body and clothing is worn throughout the session. Remember to wear light weight sports like clothing.

Treatment Information:

The treatment methods an MOT will use are Osteo articulation corrections, Myofascial remodeling, Manual lymphatic therapy, Cranialsacral therapy and Visceral manipulation.

Osteo Articulations

Osteo articulations is the assessment and treatment of the bones in the body including the pelvis, spine and periphery joints. Gentle corrections are performed with a goal to gain better alignment in the placement of articulating surfaces of the bones. Most corrections are performed by precise body positioning and engaging specific muscle to guide the bones into alignment. This treatment method is an important aspect to have in balance as it allows functions of the body to have an unobstructed pathway of performance.

Myofascial Remodeling

Our fascia is a web throughout the entire body interconnecting all structures superficial to deep. It has the ability to adapt to the demands of the body in order to offer protection, support and conduit like pathways for structures. It can become damaged through multiple ways such as injuries including trauma, over use and compensation. Fascia is reactive towards the body’s internal and external environment including diet, sleep, hydration, activity level and even our own mental state. When it becomes unbalanced it can have a global effect on our entire body’s physiology. Ideally when fascia is healthy it allows for fluids to move freely throughout the body. Some of the substances which are throughout fascia is blood, lymph, hormones and nerve receptors. It also supports body mechanics by offering a balanced tension network providing optimal movement as well as organ protection and positioning.

Manual Lymphatic Therapy

Lymph has many important functions within the body such as absorbing and recovering substances and helping our immune system perform. Some substances which are absorbed by lymph are proteins, electrolytes, toxins and foreign substances. It also helps regulate the amount of volume and pressure our fluids will have within the body cavities. Having healthy flowing lymph is necessary in order to maintain an optimal state of connective tissues and over all physiological processes within the body. Manual lymphatic therapy is a gentle and relaxing treatment which treats the body yeilding global benefits.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a calming yet globally effective treatment which involves gentle guiding movements performed on the skull and sacrum in order to influence the flow of cerebral spinal fluid throughout our brain and spinal column which affect the central and periphery nervous system. Any dysfunction in this system can create a variety of symptoms and pain throughout the body. The craniosacral system is said to reflect lesions of the body, and vice versa, as the body may reflect lesions of the craniosacral system. Ver Rev does not perform this treatment for children under the age of 12 years old.

Visceral Manipulation

Visceral treatments assess and treat the way the organs in the body are moving and ultimately functioning. The specific arteries and nerves which innervate organs are also innervating other structures such as bones, muscle and fascia. Is it typical that an issue in one of these areas will affect all other structures innervated on that level of the nervous and arterial system supply. Most often visceral pain is referred to areas of the body which may present as other bodily dysfunctions. Treatment involves a gentle hand on approach by working with arteries, nerves and fascia into guiding the organs into an obstruction free positional balance. This treatment method is a very important component in achieving optimal health within the bodily system and can have global effects.
